Masonry
The redecorating contract involved the stripping of all old coatings, and when the render was removed there was found to be a bitumen-like product on the surface. This was treated with a Jotun primer to maximise the long-lasting good looks and protection offered by Jotuns "Glamur" masonry coating.
"Glamur" is a "Pliolite" based smooth coating, specially developed to protect against mould, moisture, light and atmospheric pollution to give a life cycle of eight to ten years.
Suitable for application on concrete, plaster and most types of building boards, the Jotun product can be applied at low temperatures in cold weather and is showerproof within 30 minutes.
Timber
External woodwork at Northwood Boys School, including windows and shutters, has been recoated with the widely acclaimed Jotun "Demidekk" long life alkyd polyacrylic wood stain.
By combining the good permeability of acrylics with the penetration and adhesion of alkyds, "Demidekk" technology offers an optimum combination of properties essential for long term timber protection.
Many years after application, "Demidekk" treated woodwork shows little fading, peeling or blistering and, even then, can quickly be brought back to an immaculate condition.
